Temporary permit processing hours
Same-day requests must be submitted by 1:30 PM Eastern Time. Weekend requests must be submitted by 1:30 PM Eastern Time on the preceding open business day, normally Friday. Orders submitted after the applicable cutoff, on weekends, or on holidays begin processing the next business day.
Maximum of 10 trip certificates per calendar year
New York states that a carrier may not apply for more than 10 HUT trip certificates during a calendar year. If New York trips will be more frequent, regular HUT registration should be considered instead of relying on repeated temporary permits.
HUT trip certificates are also not available for vehicles transporting automotive fuel.

A temporary trip certificate may be appropriate for an occasional qualifying trip into New York when regular registration is not needed. Use the exact expiration printed on the New York-issued certificate. New York states that a trip certificate expires at midnight on the third day after it is issued, and weekends and public holidays do not extend that printed expiration.
