Documents Needed

Information needed for a NY HUT order.

Gather the information that helps prevent delays.

Business information

Prepare the exact legal business name, DBA when applicable, USDOT number, contact name, monitored email, telephone number, business and mailing addresses, and taxpayer identification information. Inconsistencies between New York, IRS, and USDOT records can require clarification.

Vehicle information

Gather the complete VIN, unit number, plate number and jurisdiction, year, make, model, vehicle type, registered and unloaded weights, axle count, fuel type, and ownership or lease details. Copy identifying information from reliable vehicle records rather than memory.

Existing account and credential details

For renewal, replacement, or added-vehicle requests, have the existing HUT account, certificate, decal, and vehicle information available. Confirm whether the account is active and whether any return, tax-clearance, or identity issue remains unresolved.

Temporary-trip information

For a temporary HUT trip certificate, identify the requested effective date and confirm the trip schedule before checkout. New York states that the certificate expires at midnight on the third day after the date it was issued, and the expiration printed on the issued certificate controls. New York limits a carrier to a maximum of ten trip certificates per calendar year, and trip certificates are not available for vehicles transporting automotive fuel. After-hours, weekend, or holiday requests begin processing in the next posted business period.

Payment and final review

Have a payment method ready for secure checkout. Before submitting, review the selected service, business information, VIN, plate, weight, requested dates, email, and telephone number because corrections can delay processing.

Common questions

Do I need plate information?

Yes. Plate state and number are commonly needed.

What if I do not know the weight?

Review the vehicle records before ordering because weight information affects requirements.
