Where to place a NY HUT decal
For a truck, tractor, or other self-propelled vehicle, securely and conspicuously affix the HUT decal to the vehicle body as close as possible to the front registration plate. New York considers the bumper part of the vehicle body, so the decal may be placed on the bumper near the front plate.

A HUT decal is issued for a particular vehicle and is not transferable. New York requires a decal to be surrendered to the Tax Department within five days after the related certificate is revoked, the carrier no longer controls the vehicle, the vehicle is permanently removed from on-road service or junked, or the vehicle becomes exempt from HUT.
Do not move a decal from a sold, transferred, lease-terminated, retired, or newly exempt vehicle to another truck. A different vehicle must be properly added and credentialed under the applicable account before operation.
